Wisconsin National Guard leaders will join family and
friends in sending off approximately 100 members of the Wisconsin Air National
Guard's 128th Air Control Squadron who will deploy to Southwest Asia for a
six-month tour of duty in mid-November.
Small elements of the unit have already left Wisconsin
Nov. 3 and 5, but the majority will depart from Volk Field, Wis., Nov. 11
following a formal sendoff ceremony.
According to Lt. Col. Gerard Iverson, commander of the
128th ACS, the unit will be assigned to the 727th Expeditionary Air Control
Squadron, supporting the Combined Forces Air Component Commander's mission of
providing joint air defense for the Persian Gulf.
