General Officer Assignments


The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

·         Maj. Gen. Margaret H. Woodward, special assistant to the deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to Air Force chief of safety, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., and commander, Air Force Safety Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

·         Maj. Gen. Sharon K. Dunbar, director, force management policy, deputy chief of staff, manpower, personnel and services, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to commander, Air Force District of Washington, Joint Base Andrews, Md.

·         Brig. Gen. Gina M. Grosso, director, manpower, organization and resources, deputy chief of staff, manpower, personnel and services, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to director, force management policy, deputy chief of staff, manpower, personnel and services, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Col. David B. Been, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, commander, 7th Bomb Wing, Air Combat Command, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, to director, manpower, organization and resources, deputy chief of staff, manpower, personnel and services, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination:

·         Army Brig. Gen. Lawrence W. Brock III, U.S. Army Reserve, for the rank of major general and for assignment as the commanding general, 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Ga.  Brock is currently serving as deputy commanding general, 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Ga.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination:

·         Air Force Maj. Gen. Joseph L. Lengyel for the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as vice chief, National Guard Bureau, Washington, D.C.  Lengyel is currently serving as the senior U.S. defense official; chief, Office of Military Cooperation; and defense attaché, Cairo, U.S. Central Command, Cairo, Egypt.
