4/9/2014 - BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Air
Force Global Strike Command announced the winners of its annual
Operations Awards during a commander's conference here, April 9.
The Operations Awards are presented each year to the squadron or wing
that has been recognized as the best in their field. They reinforce the
pride Airmen have in the mission as well as the competitive spirit that
has long been a part of the Air Force's heritage.
The Global Strike Command awards are named for Airmen who represent a tradition of honor and a legacy of valor.
Congratulations to the 2013 AFGSC Operations Awards winners:
Major Charles J. Loring, Jr. Award for the Best Overall Bomber Operations Support Squadron: 5th Operations Support Squadron, Minot AFB, N.D.
Gen. Samuel C. Phillips award for the Best Overall Missile Squadron: 742nd Missile Squadron, Minot AFB, N.D.
Brigadier General Kenneth N. Walker Award for the Best Overall Bomber Squadron: 23rd Bomb Squadron, Minot AFB, N.D.
Colonel James P. Fleming Award for the Best Overall Helicopter Squadron: 37th Helicopter Squadron, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.
Col. Lee R. Williams Memorial Award for Outstanding Missile Wing: 90th Missile Wing, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.
Brigadier General Frederick W. Castle Award for Outstanding Bomb Wing: 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman AFB, Mo.
