PALERMO, Italy (NNS) -- Guided-missile destroyer USS Mason
(DDG 87) arrived in Palermo, Italy for a scheduled port visit, March 31.
The port visit is designed to continue Naval Forces
Europe-Africa's efforts to strengthen maritime partnerships with European
nations in order to improve maritime safety and security in the region.
During the visit, Sailors will have the opportunity to meet
with the people of Italy and to experience the rich culture and history the
country has to offer.
Mason is on a scheduled deployment as a part of the Harry S.
Truman Carrier Strike Group to support maritime security operations and theater
security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet Area of Responsibility.
