Statement by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III:
It is with deep sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Colombian Minister of Defense Carlos Holmes Trujillo García. On behalf of the men and women of the United States Department of Defense, I join his family, and the people of Colombia in mourning his tragic passing. We will always remember the powerful legacy that his dedicated service and leadership leaves behind, including his work to forge the strong U.S.-Colombian defense relationship we maintain today. We will continue to keep his family and the people of Colombia in our thoughts during this period of mourning.
