WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2013 – While in Halifax, Nova Scotia today, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel discussed a series of regional security issues with Israel's Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon on the sidelines of the Halifax International Security Forum.

Assistant Pentagon Press Secretary Carl Woog issued a statement after the meeting saying the discussions touched on Iran, the situation in Egypt, the on-going Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations as well as the humanitarian impact of the continuing violence in Syria.   Both, he said, pledged to continue to consult closely on the "multitude of challenges facing the United States and Israel."

Woog said the two also discussed ongoing cooperation to provide Israel with new, advanced capabilities, including the V-22 Osprey.   The meeting was the fourth this year between Hagel and Ya'alon.
