9/11/2014 - BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Headquarters Individual Reservist Readiness and Integration Organization, in coordination with the Readiness Management Group, began a restructing that will reduce the number of detachments from 15 to seven and create eight operating locations.

The transition and restructure, which began Aug. 25, is part of the ongoing shift of IR management from RMG to HQ RIO and is expected to be complete by Sept. 12.

RMG Detachments 3 and 8 transitioned first and became RIO Detachment 6, MacDill AFB, Florida, on Aug. 26. The remaining RMG detachments will transition Sept. 8-12.

The transition from RMG to HQ RIO is a result of Air Force Reserve Command's decision to consolidate personnel transactional work at HQ Air Reserve Personnel Center, Buckley AFB, Colorado. However, not everything RMG accomplished could be incorporated in the move to ARPC, so HQ RIO was established.

HQ RIO officially stood up, Feb. 1, as its own command under ARPC. The full transition of responsibilities from RMG to HQ RIO is expected to be complete by Sept. 30.

Below are the details of the detachment merger:
  • RMG Detachment 10 became RIO Detachment 2, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii;
  • RMG Detachments 4, 16 and 25 became RIO Detachment 3, Peterson AFB, Colorado;
  • RMG Detachments 2, 7 and 12 became RIO Detachment 4, Scott AFB, Illinois;
  • RMG Detachment 14 became RIO Detachment 5, Robbins AFB, Georgia;
  • RMG Detachments 3 and 8 became RIO Detachment 6, MacDill AFB, Florida;
  • RMG Detachments 11 and 29 became RIO Detachment 7, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C.;
  • RMG Detachments 9 and 21 became RIO Detachment 8, Kelly Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany.
Additionally, five of the detachments will have geographically separated operating locations:
  • Detachment 3 has two OL: Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, and Offutt AFB, Nebraska;
  • Detachment 4 has two OLs: Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio;
  • Detachment 6 has two OLs: Hurlburt Field, Florida, and Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia;
  • Detachment 7 has one OL in the Pentagon;
  • Detachment 8 will have one detachment at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
