8/15/2014 - BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Buckley
Air Force Base held an Air Force Individual Ready Reserve muster
screening here Aug. 7. IRR musters are mandatory formations hosted by a
Total Force Air Force installation commander and conducted at active
duty, Guard and Reserve installations.
Selected IRR members attending the one-day event received informational briefings on readiness and personnel accountability.
Members also benefited from taking advantage of a face-to-face
opportunity to verify and update their contact and medical information,
thereby increasing the timeliness and efficiency in ARPC's ability to
contact the IRR in the event of mobilization.
The screening program strives to enhance readiness, boost combat
capability and streamline reporting procedures in the event of a
call-up. The musters not only help to enhance the readiness and
reporting of the pre-trained individual manpower population, but have
been an effective tool in recruiting trained assets and exposing IRR
members to an array of career opportunities.
Additional objectives of the IRR muster program are to verify and update
personal data on each member; ensure Air Force compliance with legal
responsibilities for IRR screening; ensure availability and maintain
readiness of IRR members for mobilization; determine skill proficiency
degradation and evaluate the need for refresher training to maintain
minimum proficiency of IRR members.
