Secretary Austin Travels to Spacecom, Indopacom, Stratcom HQs

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III departs on a U.S. trip Thursday, April 29 to meet with government and military leaders in Colorado, Hawaii and Nebraska.  

Austin will visit U.S. Space Command, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. Strategic Command to meet with U.S. troops and senior commanders to highlight his strategic vision for global security interests including in space and the Indo-Pacific region.

In Colorado, the Secretary will meet with Gen. James Dickinson, commander, U.S. Space Command, to discuss the Department’s space strategy, deterrence, and the vital contributions of space to national security and prosperity. 

In Hawaii, the Secretary will preside over a change-of-command ceremony for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command between Adm. Phillip Davidson and Adm. John Aquilino and deliver remarks highlighting deterrence as the cornerstone of America’s defense. He will also meet with special operations forces and visit the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. 

In Nebraska, Austin will meet with Adm. Charles Richard, commander, U.S. Strategic Command, to discuss the Department’s approach toward ensuring our strategic deterrent remains safe, secure and effective and preserving the nation’s strategic advantage.
