Willard M. Oliver began his law enforcement career as a summer police officer for the Wildwood Police Department (New Jersey). In 1989, he enlisted in the U.S. Army reserves and served as a military police officer in Desert Storm. From 1991 to 1994 Willard Oliver was a police officer for the Arlington County Police Department (Virginia). In 1994, Willard Oliver embarked on his academic career by becoming an assistance professor of criminal justice at Glenville State College (West Virginia). Today, Dr. Willard M. Oliver, Ph.D.,is an Associate Professor at the College of Criminal Justice, Sam Houston State University (Texas). Willard Oliver is also a Major in the United States Army Reserves, Military Police Corps.
Dr. Willard Oliver is the author of Community-Oriented Policing: A Systemic Approach to Policing, Homeland Security for Policing, The Law & Order Presidency, and Community Policing: Classical Readings. He is the co-author of A History of Crime and Criminal Justice in America and The Public Policy of Crime and Criminal.

He is currently a Program Administrative Specialist for the Law Enforcement Services section of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. Lisa Lockwood is a former Chicago area police officer. During her law enforcement career she worked as a police officer, undercover detective and SWAT team member. She is also a former member of the Untied States Air Force. Lisa Lockwood is the author of Undercover Angel.

Over 1500 Police Books

August 6, 2007 (San Dimas, CA) Police-Writers.com is a website that lists nearly 700 state and local police officers who have written books. With the addition of four authors, the site now lists over 1500 police books.
Sheriff Michael Hawley began his law enforcement career in 1988 when he joined the Island County Sheriff's Office (Washington) as a deputy sheriff. Michael Hawley rose through the ranks serving as a detective, detective lieutenant, and jail manager. He was first appointed Sheriff in 1996 to fill a vacated position until the next election. He was subsequently elected the next year to complete the unexpired term, and was then re-elected to a full four-year term in 1998 and again in 2002.
Before his law enforcement career, Michael Hawley taught high school history. He continues to teach as an adjunct professor of criminal justice for Chapman University at their satellite college located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. Michael Hawley is a graduate of Western Washington University, BA, 1974, the University of Washington, MEd, 1979 and Chapman University, MS, 1995.
Mike Hawley is the author of the mysteries Silent Proof and Double Bluff. According to the book description of Silent Proof, “Twenty-five years ago, a woman was murdered in a Seattle park. The crime went unsolved. Lowen Clausen was a police officer with the Seattle Police Department for thirteen years before leaving the Seattle Police Department and becoming a business owner with his wife, Patricia, in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. His experiences on the police department and his on-going ties to the Ballard community are reflected in his novels. Lowen Clausen is the author of Second Watch; Third & Forever; First Avenue; and, River: A Novel.
