Homestead pays tribute to Air Force birthday with youngest Airman

9/12/2014 - HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla.  -- Members of Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida., gathered to celebrate the Air Force's 67th birthday at the Community Activity Center here 7 Sept.

On Sept. 18, 1947 the United States Air Force was established. In order to continue a strong Heritage and to celebrate the Air Force's 67th birthday, the Wing tracked down the youngest Airman available on Homestead ARB to cut and receive the first slice of birthday cake.

Airman first class Jordan Pare, 19 years old, works in the 70th Aerial Port Squadron and was participating in his first unit training assembly here. Pare said he was honored to cut the first slice of cake.

"Our Airmen have been and will continue to be the strength of the Air Force," said Senior Master Sgt. Charlie Lespier, 482nd Force Support Squadron sustainment flight chief.
