HONG KONG (NNS) -- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile
destroyer USS Mustin (DDG 89) arrived in Hong Kong for a port visit, April 30.
During the stay, Mustin Sailors will be involved in several
community service projects, as well as enjoying the sights and sounds of one of
the world's major metropolises.
"Mustin is excited to have the opportunity to visit
Hong Kong and experience all that this world-famous city has to offer,"
said Cmdr. Joseph A. Torres Jr., Mustin's commanding officer. "We are
looking forward to enjoying the rich culture and remarkable hospitality that
make Hong Kong one of our absolute favorite ports of call."
Many Sailors aboard Mustin were also planning to attend
tours provided by Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation to include sightseeing,
dinner cruises, and cultural tours.
"Hong Kong is always one of my favorite ports,"
said Ship's Serviceman 3rd Class Christopher Garcia from Houston. "I'm
going on a cultural heritage tour, and I'm excited to see a monastery in Hong
Kong. It's such a great opportunity to experience another culture."
Mustin, forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and part of
Destroyer Squadron 15, is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of
responsibility in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific
region.
