Note: This is the fifth and final article in a series about
Preservation of the Force and Family, a Special Operations Command
initiative, and how it will help Air Commandos and their families at
Hurlburt Field.
The POTFF task force completed their first resiliency video Oct. 29.
The video highlights Adm. Bill McRaven's, U.S. Special Operations Command commander, primary message for POTFF.
"It is designed to create a culture which views getting help as a
positive step in the preventative maintenance of the human weapon
system-without the stigma associated with getting that help, reach
Airmen and their families," McRaven said.
Brett Cato, Air Force Special Operations Command retiree, said he thought a video could encourage people to get help.
"I wanted to give people something to see, so they could relate to it,"
he said. "[This] video provided the vehicle by which we could really
drive home McRaven's message."
Cato said he hopes the impact of the video will increase resiliency
among Airmen and their families and prompt them to address problems in
their lives, he said.
This could mean seeking the assistance of professionals for job stress,
finances, marital relations, children, or any other areas which can
impact readiness as a combat force, Cato said.
"My hope [for the video] is that it makes POTFF a common name, and it
will become a tool which our Airmen can use to make their lives and
their families thrive, even in times of difficulty," he said.
